Who we work with

One of the Ministry's main functions is to provide leadership for the justice sector.

New Zealand has a robust justice system and a strongly coordinated justice sector. The sector includes agencies such as the New Zealand Police, Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Social Development, as well as a range of Crown entities, including the Law Commission.

The justice sector works with many other agencies including local government and community groups and organisations.

Agencies in the justice sector have collaborated in developing a framework of shared sector outcomes. The justice sector is working to achieve shared outcomes that together support a safe and just society in New Zealand.
