Domestic Violence Programmes Approval Panel - New Appointments
Information for people who wish to apply or nominate another person to be members of the Domestic Violence Programmes Approval Panel for 2011-2014
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS TO THE DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAMMES APPROVAL PANEL
The Ministry of Justice is seeking nominations for suitable people to become members of the Domestic Violence Programme Approval Panel (the "approval panel").
The role of the approval panel is to consider applications from persons and organisations who wish to provide these programmes in accordance with the Domestic Violence (Programmes) Regulations 1996.
The approval panel may have a maximum of ten members, whose collective ethnic composition reflects, so far as is practicable, the likely ethnic composition of the persons and groups who participate in programmes including:
- One member who is an employee or representative of the Ministry of Justice and who is chairperson of the approval panel
- Up to nine other members who have knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence
- At least two members who have skills or experience in working with children
- At least two members who have skills or experience in relation to adult victims of domestic violence
- At least two members who have skills or experience in relation to persons who use domestic violence
The approval panel's term will be begin on 1 December 2011 and end on 31 July 2014.
Panel members must have:
- knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence,
- knowledge and understanding of the design and delivery of domestic violence programmes,
- knowledge and understanding of tikanga Maori, including Maori values and concepts, and
- a sensitivity to the values and beliefs of Pacific and other cultures as applicable to programme delivery.
Panel members must also have excellent relationship management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as a team.
The Ministry must receive nominations no later than 5pm on Friday 23 September 2011.
