Taitokerau
New Zealand’s northern-most region, The Māori Land Court Taitokerau district covers a land area of approximately 1,750,000 hectares. Of that, 149,318 hectares is Māori Land.
The boundaries of Taitokerau are from Mangawhai on the east coast to Kaipara Harbour on the west coast and north to the North Cape, marginally north of Cape Reinga.
Population
According to the 2006 Census, the Māori population in the region was 43,530 representing 7.7 percent of the total New Zealand Māori population.
The region is young with half the Māori population under the age of 23.4 years.

Don Cameron
Don joined the Maori Land Court, Whanganui in 1990 having previously worked in the Maori Affairs Department in Whanganui from 1983 to 1989. He was born and in Whanganui where he completed his secondary schooling at St Augustines College. He brings extensive knowledge and experience to the role of District Manager, Taitokerau, a position that he was recently appointed to in October 2011.
