Tākitimu
The Māori Land Court Tākitimu district covers a land area of approximately 1,936,492 hectares. Of that, 88,401 hectares is Māori Land.
The Tākitimu boundaries are the Mōhaka River in the north to the Wairarapa in the south with the western boundaries formed by the ranges from Te Hāroto south to the Tararua and Ruahine ranges. The region is spread over Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa taking in the three main urban areas of Napier, Hastings and Masterton.
Population
According to the 2006 census, the Māori Population in the region was 37,737 representing 6.7% of the total NZ Māori population.

Joy joins the Māori Land Court after nearly three years with the Wairoa District Council as Māori Liaison Officer. She has worked previously with the Department of Labour, Ministry of Transport, and State Services Commission. She has Bachelor qualifications in Laws and Arts and has a Diploma in Māoritanga.
