Te Waipounamu | Christchurch
Te Waipounamu is the largest of the Māori Land Court districts, covering approximately 16,715,185 hectares. Of that, 81,143 hectares is Māori Land.
District Boundaries
The district boundaries cover the entire South Island and includes Stewart Island (Rakiura), the Chatham Islands (Rekohu or Wharekauri) and Tītī Islands.
Population
According to the 2006 Census, the Māori population in the region was 73,599 representing 13% percent of the total New Zealand Māori population. Half of the Māori population in the region is under the age of 21.9 years.

Ngāti Pikiao, Tūhourangi me Ngāti Wahiao, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui
Carol has worked in the Māori Land Court since 1985. She was appointed Christchurch Team Manager Operations in 2005. Throughout this time Carol has participated at a local and national level within the Court through her involvement with various projects and through the management and direction she has provided to the Christchurch office.
