Directory of Official Information December 1997
Introduction | How to Use the Directory | Alphabetical
List of Entries | Ministerial Offices | Organisational Changes | Index
The Directory has individual entries for the Government departments, Crown entities, state-owned enterprises and other organisations which, at the date of publication, are subject to the Official Information Act 1982. Where appropriate, organisations have included the names of any statutory or advisory committees which they administer. Each entry was contributed by, and is the responsibility of, the organisation concerned. Entries are correct as at December 1995, but the information should not be treated as definitive because changes occur continually.
This lists each separate entry alphabetically by the main subject word, eg, 'Conservation, Department of' or 'Film Commission, New Zealand'. The three exceptions are NZ On Air (Broadcasting Commission), New Zealand Post Ltd and New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Ltd. Entries for individual colleges of education, crown research institutes, crown health enterprises, regional health authorities, polytechnics and universities are grouped under the main subject heading.
ENTRIES
Each entry follows the same format. The information is arranged under the following headings:
Relevant Acts
Functions and Responsibilities
Structure (including an organisation chart when provided)
Divisions or Groups, where appropriate
Committees
Records
Manuals
Contacts, including a full list of addresses, telephone and fax numbers.
An alphabetical list of the Ministerial offices of Government is included.
PREVIOUS NAMES OF ORGANISATIONS
The list includes those organisations which, since the 1993-95 Directory, either no longer have an entry or appear under a different name. Previous names of organisations also appear in the Index.
This is an alphabetical list of the names of major statutory bodies, major committees, special units, major schemes, plans, projects and institutions, as well as organisations which have main entries. General subject areas are also indexed and cross-references are given from broader to more specific headings and between related headings.
