Explanatory note

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title
(1) This Act is the Human Rights Amendment Act 2001
(2) In this Act (except Parts 2 and 3 ), the Human Rights Act 19931 is called "the principal Act".

2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on 1 January 2002.

  1. Part 1: Amendments to principal Act
  2. Part 2: Amendments to the War Pensions Act 1954 and War Pensions Regulations 1956
  3. Part 3: Amendments to other enactments
  4. Schedule 1: New Schedules 1 and 2 substituted
  5. Schedule 2: Amendments relating to disability as a ground for removal from office
  6. Schedule 3: Consequential amendments to other enactments
