The 2006/7 inventory indicated that waste to landfill accounts for approximately 4% of the Ministry’s greenhouse gas emissions.

8.3 2012 Targets

  1. Reduce the tonnage of waste per FTE sent to landfill from Ministry offices in Wellington by 30% by 2012.


  2. All Ministry buildings with over 20 FTE staff will have paper, cardboard, plastics, glass and metal recycling facilities in them by 2012.
