Case Summary:
Sentencing of a young offender (16).
Young person indicated that he wanted to keep his employment and would prefer not to reside at the H M Executive Trust.
The Judge was impressed by reports indicating that C had the ability to be a good worker.
Decision:
1. Placement under the supervision of the Chief Executive of the Ministry of Social Development, Child Youth and Family, for six months from 13 March 2008 to 13 September 2008. For the first 3 months C was to reside at the HM Executive Trust and then at a placement approved by the social worker.
Special conditions. C was to:
a) complete counselling
b) attend appointments made by social worker
c) adhere to any curfew
d) adhere to any rules of the residential programme
e) write letters of apology to the victims of his offending
f) pay reparation – (to be paid to various individuals and businesses, amounting to approximately $850 in total.)
