Anyone sending mail to a Ministry location must use our DX address or PO Box address (included in each court or site listing), not a street address. Read more in Mailing the Ministry

Nelson courthouse

Nelson courthouse was vacated on 23 February 2025, while the Ministry undertakes seismic strengthening and remediation work.
If you are expecting to come to court and have not heard from us, please call 0800 COURTS (0800 268 787) between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Documents can still be filed in the dropbox at the building's side entrance, and nelson.dc@justice.govt.nz will continue to be monitored.
The Ministry has a number of arrangements in place to ensure continuity of our services. We will update the public on when the courthouse will reopen in due course.
