The Ministry of Justice welcomed its new Deputy Secretary Strategy (Pou Whakatere) Victoria Davy at a small mihi whakatau on Monday 8 September. Victoria was greeted to the Justice Centre by the Strategic Leadership Team (SLT), alongside kaimahi from Ātea a Rangi – Strategy and Te Whare (Chief District Court Judges’ Chambers).
Victoria comes to the Ministry after many years at EY, most recently as Partner – Strategy and Transactions at EY-Parthenon (EY’s global strategy consulting arm). She was also a Partner in EY Tahi – EY’s Māori Sector Services firm. EY is a major provider of auditing and strategic consultancy services to the public sector and Victoria has played significant parts in advising government organisations in strategy and organisational improvement, including a spell consulting for Ara Poutama Aotearoa Department of Corrections.
Justice Secretary Andrew Kibblewhite welcomed Victoria, expressing his pleasure at having a full complement on SLT. “It feels like a long time since we first began discussing this move with you, but now you’re here and we are all so pleased to put this final piece of the jigsaw in place,” he said.
In her response, Victoria expressed how much she was looking forward to taking up her new role, and how it was the natural next step in her long-standing commitment to strengthening Māori–Crown relationships and her keen desire to support people-centred justice services.
“This is a very exciting and momentous day for me,” said Victoria. “I want to thank everyone for this warm welcome and I am very much looking forward to working alongside my new kaimahi to strengthen the Ministry’s strategic direction.”
