2018 to 2023 Ministry of Justice statement of intent

Applications are invited from persons qualified for appointment as a Hawke’s Bay based Coroner. Coroners are appointed under section 103 of the Coroners Act 2006. To be appointed as a Coroner the Act requires that the appointee must have held a practising certificate as a barrister or solicitor for at least 5 years.

In this issue we hear from an American criminology expert on the forgotten victims of prisons; a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Judiciary; the newly established Behavioural Insights team has had success recovering fine repayments; Courts and Tribunals legislation passed; and the first phase of family violence legislation changes came into effect.

The Minister of Justice is seeking expressions of interest from persons resident in the Auckland and Hawkes Bay regions who wish to be considered for the role of part-time Lay Member of the New Zealand Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.

Applications are invited from persons wishing to be considered for appointment as a full-time Director of Human Rights Proceedings based in Auckland.

This Information Sharing Agreement is made under Part 9A of the Privacy Act 1993, to authorise the sharing of Permitted information under section 237 of the District Court Act 2016 and section 174 of the Senior Courts Act 2016.

Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified persons who would like to be considered for the following appointments under section 8 of the Human Rights Act 1993 - Chief Commissioner, Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner and Race Relations Commissioner.
