Change proposal for the Centre for Family Violence and Sexual Violence Prevention
The Executive Board for the Elimination of Family Violence and Sexual Violence has begun consulting on a change proposal aimed at focusing efforts on what will make the greatest difference for victims and survivors.
The change proposal was outlined to staff from the Centre for Family Violence and Sexual Violence Prevention today and follows a review into the current needs for the family and sexual violence prevention system and what kind of structures, capabilities and leadership would meet that need.
The Centre supports the Board by providing a whole-of-system perspective, working alongside agencies and sector partners to enable coordinated action.
Board Chair and Secretary for Justice Andrew Kibblewhite said: “I firstly want to acknowledge the impact that this change proposal will have on the staff who are involved in this incredibly important work.
“These are complex issues that require a strong, joined-up approach across Government. No single agency can do this alone, and effective coordination is essential.”
Mr Kibblewhite said, following the review, the Board had looked carefully at how resources and effort were best used to drive real impact.
Under the change proposal released today, 36 roles in the Centre would be disestablished, six of which are vacant, and 10 new roles established. This would result in a net reduction of 26 roles.
“I am confident the proposed changes will strengthen how the system works together and help us deliver better outcomes for those experiencing family violence and sexual violence.
“It’s important to note that this proposal has not been driven by cost savings but to ensure all our resources are focussed on making the biggest difference with this very important mahi.”
Consultation with Centre staff will conclude on 1 July, with final decisions on the new structure expected by the end of July and implementation in early September.
