This paper sought Cabinet approval to a package of legislative proposals to strengthen the Family Court in care of children matters. The proposals ensure that families and whānau are well supported in care of children proceedings by providing for early legal advice and information, enhancement of children’s participation, and for lawyers’ duties to be expanded.
