The Family Violence, Sexual Violence and Violence within Whānau Workforce Capability Framework describes the competencies, knowledge, skills and organisational support needed across the family violence workforce to lift its capability.
In this context, ‘workforce’ includes government agencies, family violence and sexual violence service providers, organisations, volunteers, and kahukura (community champions).
It was developed by a government and non-government expert design group, which included National Stopping Violence Service board member Sue Rudman, Chairperson of the Social Workers Registration Board Shayne Walker, CEO Te Whakaruruhau (Waikato Women’s Refuge) Ruahine Albert, Family Violence Death Review Committee specialist Rachel Smith, and Shine Client Services Manager Jill Proudfoot. It was published in June 2017. The Framework is now being tested in some select family violence and sexual violence service provider sites, as well as at the Integrated Safety Response pilots(external link) in Christchurch and Hamilton.
All family violence and sexual violence service providers are encouraged to read the Framework and consider how it fits with their service. To ask any questions or make a comment, email familyandsexualviolence@justice.govt.nz
