Wellington Anniversary Day is observed on Monday 19 January 2026. The following court locations will be closed (including National Office): Dannevirke, Levin, Marton, Masterton, Hutt Valley, Palmerston North, Porirua, Taihape, Wellington and Whanganui.
Normal operating hours resume on Tuesday 20 January 2026.
The Ministry of Justice is increasing fees in courts and most Ministry administered tribunals.
This is a consumer’s price index (CPI) inflation adjustment to ensure the fees the Ministry charges better reflect the costs of operating court and tribunal services, and that these services remain financially sustainable.
The fee increases will take effect from 1 July 2025.
