Your first step should be to try to sort out the problem without going to court. This reduces the cost, saves time and avoids extra stress. It also gives you more control.
You can try to resolve the problem yourself or you can get a lawyer to help you. If you can’t afford a lawyer, you can get free community legal help.

A process like negotiation, mediation and arbitration might help you sort out the problem without going to court.
You can use a private alternative dispute resolution provider at any point during a dispute. They can talk to you about the different forms of alternative dispute resolution and which one might work for you best.
