Notice of End of Process for Making and Determining Victims’ Claims
Pursuant to subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Prisoners’ and Victims’ Claims Act 2005 (the Act), compensation awarded to Rachel Louise Suter was paid to the Secretary for Justice and after making any deductions, the surplus remaining was paid into the Victims’ Claims Trust Account on 9 January 2026 on behalf of Rachel Louise Suter to enable any victims of that offender to make claims against it.
From 27 January 2026, notice was given by publication in the New Zealand Gazette, on 26 January 2026 the website of the Ministry of Justice and on 31 January 2026 in the daily newspapers in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin of the sum of money paid into the Trust Account, and the entitlement of victims of the offender to claim against this money and the manner to do so.
The Secretary for Justice has now paid out all or the last of the money held in the Trust Account on behalf of Rachel Louise Suter in accordance with Subpart 2 of Part 2 of the Act.
